NEW RELEASE: Maiden Harvest Saison – The First From Our Farm!

Rob Davis on the swather.

We are always excited every time we release a beer, however this time, we are extra excited. “In 2018 my family and I purchased a farm in Maple Ridge with the intent of growing our own ingredients and this beer is the first to fulfil that dream!” says Rob Davis, Owner of Foamers’ Folly. “This is a huge milestone for us and is hopefully the first of many beers to feature homegrown ingredients,” he continued.

Our field of triticale

For the Maiden Harvest, we grew triticale – a hybrid of rye and wheat, for it’s unique and diverse flavour. “The addition of our triticale provides a flavour profile more subtle yet more complex than rye and has the same body as wheat,” says Lyndsay Birch, Head Brewer of Foamers’. “We paired our triticale with a citrusy, lightly-phenolic yeast, and hopped it with just enough Sabro hops to incorporate notes of citrus and cedar”.

“Having fresh, local, sustainable ingredients is really important to me,” Rob says. “My goal has always been to produce the most flavourful and exciting beer possible and this is another step in that direction! We couldn’t be happier or more excited about how the final product turned out,” he continues. “Please join me in celebrating the first of what we hope will be many harvests!”
